Watch Collector Case

So if your a big watch collector, then this would be a pretty good investment for you.  Even if your not, this is awesome and can definitely come in handy for your watches.  It is called a Pelican case.  Talk about the perfect way to keep your watches safe.  No chance you'll lose a watch with this.

This case holds 32 watches and is going for $130.

And there's also a case that holds 4 watches...

Garmin Golf GPS Watch

Ok, so maybe you would only get this if you play golf, BUT, it makes for a great digital watch as well.  The watch is directly communicated via satellite so wherever you are, with one click of a button, it searches and finds the course you are at and links up so it tells you your exactly yardage to the hole.  Along with yardage to the front, middle, and back of the green.  Check its site out here.

427 yards to the hole on hole #1.  and now for it as a watch:

The Nike Fuel Band

I have a fuel band and it is great.  It lists how many steps you take each day, how many calories you burn, how much nike+ fuel you need to go in order to reach your daily goal, and what time it is! It is a great watch.   The battery last at least 5 days and it is all digital, looking pretty cool on your wrist.  Here are some pics:

The only question you might have is what is nike+ fuel? Well, it goes along with an App you can download on your phone of which you sync your daily activity to so it keeps track of your entire history with it.  Also, it is for a program that it comes with that you can also just keep track on your computer with.  The nike+fuel is based upon how much energy you want to use each day.  For example, most people do 2,000 nike fuel, which is a pretty standard day with about an hour worth of exercise and along with your movement throughout the day, then you should easily reach it.  AND, when this happens, it lights up in all different colors saying "GOAL"

I definitely recommend this for a watch as well.

Kentucky Derby Commercial: Longines

This commercial appeared during the Kentucky Derby yesterday, May 4th 2013.  I was watching and noticed it and learned about these Longines watches, who was the official sponsor for the event.  The winner and the trainer of the race both received a Longines watch for their victory.  I am really impressed with this brand; I mean if its the main watch of the Kentucky Derby then you know it's very expensive.  This is the Kentucky Derby we're talking about, filled with the wealthy people from all over coming to watch this event.  The hats and outfits are another story, pretty self-explanatory there, but I thought this watch commercial was pretty cool as it got widespread attention it.  Check it out.

A Playlist of Songs about Watches

1.  "Phone Numbers"- Wiz Khalifa

-"Time is money so i went and bought a Rolex"

This is part of the chorus of the song, making it revolve around the thought of if you put in the work every day, you could buy a Rolex with enough money.  The "time is money" aspect, is a play of words. Moreover, it is also symbolizing the expensiveness of Rolex and the greatness of a Rolex as well.

2.  "Racks" - YG ft Wiz Khalifa

-"Lookin' at my Roley, bout 30 grand what that cost"

"Roley" is a slang word for Rolex, which is what Wiz (again) is talking about here.

3.  "Mr. Nice Watch" - J. Cole ft Jay-Z

-"Hello Mr. Nice Watch"

This song is all about your favorite watch.  They talk about making history with their watch on.  The watch, Audemars Piguet, is also referenced in the 3rd verse of the song.

4.  "Clocks" - Coldplay

-"Confusion never stops, closing walls and ticking clocks"

Colplay is talking about how time caves in; time is working against him as he wishes to take someone back regardless of how long it takes him.

5.  "Blowin Money Fast" - Rick Ross

"I think I'm Big Meech, look at my time piece.  It anodomere hundred racks at least"

Ross is talking about his watch.  Admiring his watch.  "Anodomere" is the Audemars Piguet that he is talking about.  He slangs the word to make it go with the song (common with rap songs).

6.  "Mercy" - Pusha T

-"My Audemars like Mardi Gras"

7.  "Tik Tok" - Ke$ha

-"Tik Tok on the clock"

The whole is about how partying never ends (time reference)

8  "Too much time on my hands" - Styx

-"I've got too much time on my hands"

9.  "My Audemars" - DJ drama, Meek Mill

-"Imma shine, just like my Audemars, my Audemars"
-"Hundred stacks, Franck Watch"

Recently came out off of a mixtape.  The Franck watch is the Franck Mueller watch, the rapper Birdman has a few of them that he wears persistently in his music videos and celebrity appearances.

10.  "Ca$hin out" (remix) - Akon

-"Got an island on my wrist, girl, I'm cashin' out"

This was not the original song, but Akon did a remix to it and says this line in his verse.

LA Ferrari MP-05 Hublot Watch

This is one of the sweetest Ferrari watches I have seen.  Made by Hublot, it has a titanium case, and more movements than you can imagine a watch to have; like this thing also uses black aluminum cylinders that are used to tell the time.  Forget your regular time and hour hands with this one.  It also has a leather carbon fiber case.

Chanel: Experience Watchmaking

This video gives you an inside look into how the really expensive watches are made.  Chanel, is a designer that is well known for its name and global presence.

"House of Cards" Character Francis' Watch

House of Cards is a netflix original series that competes with HBO and Cinemax.  It is about a U.S. congressman and how politics affects the country.  The main character, Francis, wears a really unique watch that I noticed.

Meet Francis.  Now his watch which I know is hard to see...

These IWC watches are swiss made, and have established a great international presence respectively in the market.  Now you might ask yourself, what does this show me? Well, it shows you that characters in movies and TV shows alike, wear REALLY nice and flashy watches (designer-esk).  This could definitely be product placement, or just for the character.  Either way, these watches are really cool.  Here is another watch that I like from them off their site (as you can click on above);

As you can see in the middle, this watch has the ability of being able to tell you when the sun sets and rises.

Lacoste: New Style for their Watches

For some reason the youtube link wasn't accepting this one.  Either way, click on the link above and you'll see Lacoste's new style of watches.  It is interesting for me to see because they are starting to use different colors with their famous alligator logo, having it be in every other color (other than the usual green).  As well, they also have both the hour and minute hands in their watch be in color as well.  I think this is a great appeal to wear out.

Gucci Timepieces Partnering With Myspace

So myspace just landed a deal with Gucci.  This was an interesting article to read, considering I haven't heard about Myspace since it started.  "Guccisync" is a new type of watch, and is what the company is calling these watches hitting the net on these social media sites.  In the article you can see women and men wearing Gucci watches, focusing on the ones that really show the brand recognition on the band, and the people having a great time in the photo.  Of course they want to show that; I am not surprised.  Comment on what you think about Myspace.

Another Flashy Burberry

These are just my favorite watches.  I can't get enough of them.  One of my first posts was the burberry I have that is similar to this, but wider in size and has 3 links on the band versus the 2 on this one.  This watch is one of the most expensive burberry watches (their collection is small and no watches are more than $1,200) as in the middle it shows seconds, and other chronograph functions such as stop watch and calendar.  I also love the color combo here, the silver with a blue face.  Very classy.

The famous and trendy G-Shock watches

This is "Baby-G Shock" watch.  It lasts for a long time, as this person has worn this watch everyday for the past 4 years.  It reminds me of a good example of how people love their watches.  It's simple, but yet presents great value to them. It is also a little smaller than the regular G-Shock watch as seen here:

The regular G-Shocks come in any color you can imagine.  They have had some rarity's as well, some models being special editions and collectibles.  G-Shocks are also commonly worn by military personnel.  I don't know why, maybe because it looks cool and matches their outfit (lol).  As you can see, they are pretty durable and thick.  They have a cool glow when you light them up at night too.  My friend has 10 of these watches.  Different color to wear on a different kind of day.  These watches are cheap, and somewhat flashy as well.  A lot of famous musicians wear these watches too for some reason.

Timex: Conversation Starters

HERE is an article that talks about Timex's new campaign idea of their belief that their watches initiate conversation.  This commercial was made in India in 2008, and the first step of this campaign of them putting it out there that Timex's are "conversation starters."  The director's goal of the commercial was to show how the watch can be an icebreaker between two random people in any type of situation.  They are getting at the point that you will get attention when you wear this watch.  Timex is trying to go beyond the standard form of  what a watch can do; they want to be of a different kind.

The Many Types Of Watches You Didn't Know About

This is a cool fun article I came across, click on this link above to check it out.  It talks about the different types of watches out there that you most likely did not know about.  One of the unique things about watches is you can buy them for 3 dollars, or thousands of dollars.  They are simple, yet their designs can extend to forever.  There is always room for improvement.  This article talks about certain types of watches such as : LCD watches with crystal displays, quartz watch (runs on batteries), mechanical watch (operates with a set of gears), diving watch (water resistant up to 100 meters).

Watch Functions

time zones

The Hong Kong Fashion Geek

This guy explores all kinds of different watches that I have never seen before.  On his main page, there are watches called "Nooka."  He says that these watches are retro robot watches.  There are also other parts to his site as well if you want to check it out.  Here was my favorite watch,

Its essentially not even a watch by regular standards.  More like a radio player on your wrist, with the AM/FM bands.  I wonder if you press one of those buttons and its like a screen that switches over to a digital or even analog time display.  That would be cool.  I should invent my own watch; the ideas I get are astronomical!!

Breitling for Bentley

A well-crafted and engineered watch.  It is gold plated around the outside and has a brown leather strap.  I think the leather straps are very classy in all cases.  For this watch, its brown leather accommodates the gold and white face extremely well.  Breitling's also have been known to be able to tell you the weather outside, and even if it's going to rain or not.  You can tell by the small number dial's that surround the outside of the watch.  The unique designs in the middle are a calendar and built in chronograph.  I would wear this watch any day of the week and would love to be able to afford it soon.  To put the rarity and specialty of this watch into perspective, Breitling only makes 2 of this "Breitling for Bentley limited edition" per year!! Wow. Definitely won't be able to find a deal on this watch, unless you pay in cash up front.

"The Watch Press"

A site that has news and reviews about all kinds of watches.  I think the fun part about this is to look through it and find out about all kinds of watches worn in different countries.  The different styles seen around the world is really fascinating.  There was one watch that its face resembled the look of an engine block.  Some faces of watches can look far from the norm...and be almost impossible to be able to read the time.  That's part of what makes it fun and people notice.

Citizen Watch (from above) Owner Discussing His Watch

Would you wear this watch?

I saw this watch on a music downloading site.  Random, but it struck my attention nonetheless.  Its by this company called "A bathing" which is a new company I have never heard of.  They inspired this watch from Rolex, as you can kind of tell the band is fairly similar with the two tone in the middle of it.  There is actually an Ape as the "12" on the face of this watch.  ha ha... and the "ape shall never kill ape" interesting tagline they have.  They don't have a company website, but check out more of their watches Here

1960 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King

Ok, this is pretty cool....

This watch has obviously been out of production since way back when.  It has a small face, with a very classy appeal as you can tell.  My friend was telling me that his grandfather gave him this watch recently to remember him by.  Great story. His grandfather had gotten this as a gift for inventing something.  I tried this watch on and it felt very light and comfortable on my wrist.  This is worth anywhere from $5,000-$12,000.  He said he only wears this on special occasions; as unsurprising as that sounds... The biggest shock to me was discovering how small the face of the watch really was.  It made me think about how Rolex has changed over time and how the style of fashion of watches has evolved over time as well.  In the 1960's you would most likely only find the rich of the rich wearing this watch.  And today, it would be considered still as a royalty, but on a historical scale.  I love to report how there is always a story behind every watch.

Another catchy watch ad on plane

Another magazine I was looking at on the plane with a funny watch ad title coming from a rap song.  A "Stauer" watch that is cheap and made in the U.S.  It has a mix of digital and analog function as you can see. I am confused why there is a random sunglasses coupon on this page...

Delta Watch Magazine Cover

I was in Atlanta this weekend and on my flight going there on Delta, I looked in the seat pouch in front of me (like on all planes) and this Skymall magazine above had this watch on its front cover.  I discovered that this is a "Jorg Gray" watch that is swiss made with a classy appeal to it.  The ad campaign for it was to target its water-resistant capability.  I think this would look nice on you to wear to the pool or beach.  This also goes to show you that there are many different type of watch brands out there that you most likely did not know about.  Always pays to do your research and explore.

Possibly the most well-known high class watch brand on the planet

Rolex. Rolex. Rolex. God I love that name.  Rolex started in London back in 1905.  It moved to switzerland shortly after and its headquarters are still there today.  It is a privately held company that has made billions of dollars selling their high quality watches.  Rolex has 11 different types of watches for men, and 6 kinds for women.  Its founder, Hans Wilsdorf, had the vision of wearing a watch on your wrist.  So, he did just that and transformed pocket watches to be made on your wrist.  The craftsmanship he attained combined with the Swiss elegance eventually made Rolex become so successful and well-known.  There's a really short background information of Rolex for you guys.  Here are a few of my favorite models:

Black and gold Oyster Perpetual Submariner

All gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date

Silver Band Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust
Notice the diamonds for each of the numbers...

Rolex Yachtmaster II

Tiger woods Rolex Ad

What an appropriate time to post this.  Tiger Woods in the masters right now, doing well in the first round so far.  I came across this Rolex Ad he did with them a few years back which the idea of it is to always be on time to your tee time.  The model they focused on is the Sky-Dweller Oyster Perpetual.  If you ask me I think that the names of different types of Rolex's are pretty weird.  Date perpetual? Datejust? Daytona? Yacht master? All random, but nevertheless the name Rolex is better than awesome.

Is this website for real?

So i found this site, JOMASHOP that has almost every kind of brand of watches that you can imagine.  They sell them on this site for almost half off in some cases.  I don't usually buy things online, but this "Jomashop" does appear for real.  Cartier is one of my dream watches, and for these watches on here most of them they sell for almost 30% off!  Great deal to check out.  I would give them a call if your interested.  Nothing like browsing online for hours looking at your dream watches.  This site certainly offers a much better deal than going to the  store where they charge full price most of the time.

First watch

Tag Heuer

Pulp Fiction "The Gold Watch" scene

I love Christopher Walken in this famous lecture scene; he's been in some classic movies and always add a certain element to his characters.  Here he is telling this kid the story behind the watch....not so pleasant but you know how crazy Pulp Fiction is.  This Gold watch was the watch "his father wore in battle when he died."  I was trying to find out what kind of watch it was; if you listen closely he says it was "made by the first company that's ever made wrist watches."

New Omega watch commercial appearing on Youtube's homepage

This commercial starts out by saying "There are movements so perfect, you'd hardly think they were made by humans."  Talk about a great way to market your new product.  Watches are all movements and humans make them, so to be have movements so perfect...that catches people's attention and curiosity right there.  Omega just launched this new watch called the Co-axial Chronometer.  I bet you'll see this watch in the next James Bond movie.  It also kind of looks like a Rolex, with how the frame is built around it.  Most of the time you don't click on the main Ad video on youtube's homepage, but this caught my attention.

Nothing like buying a watch at your local pharmacy

Yes, CVS sells watches.  $10.  Do they last? I'm not sure but they are watches and could last longer than brand name watches.  Who knows.  "Waltham" was the name engraved on all these watches (I know it's hard to see in these pics).  For $10 that sounds like a good deal to me, and you get your pharmacy shopping done too.  I've never actually seen someone buy a watch from a drug store like this; maybe that's saying something? Maybe these same watches have been sitting there for years? I wonder how this watch company, "Waltham" does.  What kind of reputation do you think these watches carry if people know they are sold at these stores.  Can't be more than simple.

Is Gucci an everyday watch?

A friend of mine wears this Gucci watch everyday.  It has a classy silver band that was comfortable and could go well with any type of outfit.  For the most part, their designs are simple and they just carry the well-known expensive brand name.  This watches' band stretches to the comfort you want on your wrist, which I think is convenient to be able to have for this kind of watch.  These, like other designer brand watches, are battery powered, so after about a year you'll have to go replace the battery.   Replacing the battery can be done at any watch store and is very cheap.  If you go to the retail store of the watches company (for example in this case going to a Gucci outlet store) then it will cost you more money because they overcharge for everything.  Also, designer brand watches such as Gucci, aren't as good as they could be because watches aren't the trademark and focus of their company.  Like Burberry and Louis Vuitton, it is more focused on clothing and bags versus watches.  I feel like that is why the intricate parts of this watch is lacking. The quality of it is certainly there, but they could do more with their watches.

Movado

The James Bond Signature Watch

Definitely makes me want to get an Omega.  Good example of product placement.  Omega really did a great job of making sure their product is seen and recognized.  Both in movies, and on billboards and other ads.  Below is the James Bond Skyfall commercial that was paid for and run by Omega, to help show that James Bond only wears Omega watches.  The watch above is the one he wore in the movie.

Movado- audio coming soon

Movado watches are fairly common.  They remind me of a graduation present and the first expensive watch people own.  They can range from $500-$5000.  The more expensive watches have diamonds engraved in them.  There hasn't been a lot of recent news about Movado, as they've been most likely focused on their brand in the market and coming up with new models.  Here is an article of a Q & A with their president, who speaks on their half a billion dollar buisness and their recent purchase of another luxury watch company called Ebel.  One of their trademarks is a simple black dial watch.  The article also speaks on how he insists that the company has a bright future in the watch market.  My friends' dad has a silver Movado that he bought for $2000-$2500; he said that it looks similar to an old fashioned Rolex Oyster-Perpetual.  He wears this watch only to formal events.  This gives you an idea on people's attitudes and feelings towards Movado's.  In this instance, you could say Movado's are relatively cheap when your in the market for expensive watches to only wear on certain occasions.  They look nice and classy, and its brand name is easily recognizable to others.

Which would you rather have?

Lacoste

or

Burberry

Comment with your choice!

Each model is unique, as they both have leather bands, which by the way are becoming more popular these days, and they also both came out last year.  Lacoste is a little cheaper, but your still getting a well-recognized designer brand product on your wrist.  Their style is more broad having watches come in all sorts of colors and designs.  Burberry on the other hand, is more expensive by on average about $200-300 more. They stay more true to their brand being incorporated into all their products; which can be a reason why they have less of a variety of watches to choose from.  Lacoste is an example of a brand who has lots of different styles you could choose from, all of which have their trademark "the crocodile" which began back in the 1920's.
